A Private school head teacher and a form two student at Matunda Highway secondary school in Likuyani Sub County were arrested after the latter was nabbed while impersonating as a KCPE candidate.
Confirming the incident, Likuyani OCPD Mr. Meshack Kiptum said the suspect Abigail Chepleting aged 15 who is a Form two student at Matunda Highway Secondary was arrested while sitting the KCPE
examinations on behalf of a one Mrs. Melisa Mukhwana at Matunda Highway Academy on Tuesday evening.
“The Form two students was arrested on Tuesday at Matunda Highway Academy where she was masquerading as a Mrs. Melisa Mukhwana aged 33 years,” said Kiptum who added that the Academy’s Head Teacher, Mr. Luke Kwambi, was also arrested and the two were taken to Matunda Police Station for further questioning over the incident, which has shocked the locals.
According to the Sub County police boss, records indicated Mrs Mukhwana, an adult learner, had actually registered as a private candidate at the academy.
Kiptum said when asked how she entered the examination room, the girl revealed it was the head teacher who had requested her to sit for the examination on behalf of Mrs. Mukhwana .
“Once preliminary investigations into the matter have been completed, the two will be arraigned in court where they will be charged according to the Kenya National Examinations Council act,” added
Kiptum.
The 33 years old woman was still at large.
