Amani National congress officials were joined by their supporters in Vihiga County to protest the move by some senior politicians to oust the party national secretary general Godfrey Osotsi together with ANC party chairman Vihiga branch Sikalo Ochiel.
The ANC supporters led by party women leader Vihiga county Rita Atieno said they will not allow a few individuals to victimize the party secretary over the nominations which were concluded last week.
They said Osotsi together with Ochiel are being targeted for ousting by some influential people who lost or their preferred candidates lost in the party nominations. “We are protesting in the strongest terms over the manner in which some senior leaders are threatening to unconstitutionally eject the party national secretary Godfrey Osotsi and Vihiga County Amani National Congress chairman Sikalo Ochiel from their positions. We shall not accept such frustration,” said Atieno.
They appealed to the party leader Musalia Mudavadi to intervene and protect the duo from the axe. They said Osotsi and Ochiel should be appreciated for conducting free and fair party nominations instead of being sacrificed.
The supporters also asked Vihiga Chanzu who will be vying for Vihiga gubernatorial seat on an ANC ticket to consult his supporters on who will be his running mate. Chanzu who has hinted picking his running mate from Bunyore was asked by the party supporters from Bunyore to hold a consultative meeting with them to deliberate and decide on who will be his running mate.
“We are also appealing to Yusuf Chanzu to consult ANC supporters from Bunyore where he is expected to pick his deputy. He must hold a consultative meeting with ANC stakeholders from Bunyore to help him pick a credible running mate,” they said.
