Amani National Congress (ANC) party will fail to capture all political seats in Vihiga County because the party carried out shambolic primaries. This is according to ANC Vihiga sub County party chairman Kenneth Lugaye who said the party is facing an uphill task in the County to deliver all seats to the party.
“There is a mass exodus of followers from ANC. This is due to unfair play in the concluded party nominations,” said Lugaye. He said even after the party leader Musalia Mudavadi addressed all ANC Nominees at a local hotel last week, the scenario hasn’t changed.
He said the locals had expressed dissatisfaction with the party after it failed to conduct nominations in four wards namely Wodanga, Luanda Township, West Bunyore and Lugaga/Wamuluma.
He said those candidates who were affected by the nominations fiasco are yet to receive a fair deal from the top leadership and the Internal Dispute Reconciliation Committee (IDRC).
The chairman, therefore, demanded immediate intervention by the top party brass with failure to which the party leader will also have to back independent candidates who moved out of ANC during unfair primaries.
The chairman also accused Vihiga County Chairman Julius Ochiel of ill advising the party and issuing threats to the officials with dismissal without any substantial reason. “Let him (Ochiel) be advised that our mandate as sub-county officials is on a voluntary basis and we are not on payroll like him. His involvement in nominations has made us lose confidence in him,” said Lugaye.
His sentiments were echoed by other sub-counties’ chairmen led by Isaya Ngaira (Hamisi), John Simala (Emuhaya) and Josephine Kemba (Sabatia) among other officials who were present today during a press briefing in a local hotel in Vihiga Sub County.
