“Our intelligence spotted one of the suspects, Sirengo, at Sokomoko village before tipping off our office, and we acted in hast and apprehended them,” said Macharia.
According to the sub county police boss, Sirengo was taken to Turbo station where the victims of the robbery and rape incident positively identified him as being part of the gang that attacked their home in Mwamba village.
The suspect admitted as being one of the criminals that raided home belonging to Mr. Tenson Chaq Saisi, and led security officers to the gang’s hideout within Turbo trading centre where the officers successfully arrested the other suspected criminals.
During the night long incident, the thugs tormented Saisi’s family, particularly his wife, Mrs. Belinda Nafula, two daughters and a house-help.
The two daughters and the house-help were gang raped several times in turns by the criminals who went as far as preparing and feasting on a delicacy before they made away with household items including, one laptop, two television sets, home theatre and phones and several geese, turkeys and chickens.
Lugari Sub County Criminal Investigation Officer, Mr. Joseph Katsungu disclosed to the media that the five had already been booked at a court in Eldoret pending ongoing investigations.
“We are, however, waiting a comprehensive medical report from Lumakanda County hospital where semen samples of the male suspects are being examined before we conclude our investigations thereafter, perhaps build a case against them,” said Katsungu.
