After stalling for some time the 50 million High Altitude Training Center, a project funded by the County government of Bungoma is set to be completed soon to help nurture athletics talents in Mt. Elgon and other parts of Bungoma County.
Speaking after attending a church service at Church of Christ in Kapsokwony Lusaka said a new contractor has taken over the project and is set to be completed soon saying in his manifesto it was one of his flagship projects to help nurture the talents and improve economy of the County.
He disclosed that after benchmarking in Iten and Kaptagat the project plan was a hybrid and after its completion it will be the best in the region and urged residents from the area to make use of the center for a positive impact in their lives.
Governor Lusaka added that after being identified as one of the towns in Bungoma, Kapsokwony will soon be getting a facelift of roads being tarmacked saying in the first face the towns of Kimilili, Bungoma and Webuye benefited and now Cheptais, Chwele and Kapsokwony are next.
However he called upon people who encroached on the road reserve to be ready to pave way for road construction saying they will not spare their property when the work begins as it is for the benefit of the community that the roads will have to be constructed.
He also added that a floodlight will soon be mounted at Kapsokwony market to help boost security at the market and also have the business people extend their working hours in the night to have them plough in more profits.
On his part the deputy Governor Hillary Chongwony said as a County government they are working hard to fulfill on the promises they made during campaigns saying residents from every part of the County have a right of access to better services and development.
He discouraged leaders against engaging in divisive politics but engage one another in setting up plans of improving the living standards of the people saying devolution was brought to have resources benefit people up to the grass root level.
