COTU boss Francis Atwoli has supported calls for the referendum, saying it will encourage inclusivity in all communities. Speaking at St Christopher Catholic church in Kyumbi, Atwoli said Kenyans are focused on the referendum, “The mood of Kenyans is focused on the referendum,” he said, “We still don’t know the arrangements which will be made. Wamalwa and others are here, maybe under my leadership or not, they’ll be considered in the new arrangement, and maybe the leaders from Central Kenya under the leadership of his Excellency the President will be in that new arrangement.”
Atwoli said the referendum process will also encourage investment in the country. On his part, Devolution CS Eugene Wamalwa said the referendum will enable every Kenyan to be represented. “I want to agree with Kenyans who are the majority and have decided that the time is now to revise the constitution and I support that notion,” he said. Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala who was also present said those who are against the referendum have taken that position because they know their days are numbered.
