It’s important to know that built-in beliefs are tremendously powerful, that the power to absolutely change everything lies with you. Our feelings, behaviours, decisions, and abilities are dependent on our thoughts, as our thoughts are, so are our lives.
The sad part, though, is that people closest to you, those supposed to help shape these thoughts at an early age are the ones who have created some of this negativity and limiting thoughts with careless comments like you can’t do this, who are you to think that you can achieve more than we did? Starting from things like a teacher told you are not good at Math and would never make it in the arithmetic world, or that you’re a poor speaker, you’re too short to being told that you won’t make a responsible husband. We are our surroundings; friends, parents, schoolmates, and society, what they say about us or to us, forms who we are and what we believe about ourselves.
Such reckless, mind limiting remarks will eventually end up being a part of a person even when they are adults. A child is supposed to grow up with no limitations in the mind pertaining what they can and can’t achieve.
Everyone has the ability to think positively or negatively about an issue. Most times we choose to go the negative route and put so many limitations on ourselves though some of them come from an early age.
Even at the times when you feel something is not in your area of expertise, don’t tell yourself that you can’t do that, instead, choose the I will give it my best if it doesn’t work out so be it path. In the process you might be surprised at just how broad you are, you might even be the best at it. With the power of positive thinking, you are able to explore areas outside your comfort zone and realize even greater potential.
Jane can’t run the same way as Anne or Ella. Jane might run slower in 100M race but be the best in cross country athletics while Ann might be a 100M race expert at the end of the day they are both still good athletes. It’s all in the thoughts, well Jane might choose to think in the line of why is Ann good enough in 100M race and am not, or she might choose to think in the line of Ann is a good athlete and so am I.
It’s high time that we all realized that none of these things are actually true. Be a believer of learning from experience, don’t just let someone convince you that something is hard, or it’s for a certain class of people, try it out and see that it’s actually hard, and then you will have the satisfaction that you gave it your best and it was just not for you. We can’t be good at everything.
Change starts with your thoughts. When you shun negative attitudes of doubt and fear you conquer failure.
Never underestimate the power of positive thoughts, they have a hand in a person’s fate, be it success or failure so don’t limit yourself go out there and get that job, that partner, that business you’ve been putting on hold for a while, that new makeover, those things that you were limiting yourself from through your thoughts.
