Bumula MP Moses Mwambu Mabonga has castigated MPs who are using funeral functions to push for Luhya unity saying they have to formulate an alternative formula of achieving the unity of purpose away from the funerals.
Addressing mourners during the funeral of Mama Celecencia Nasike, mother to Kimaeti ward MCA Jack Wambulwa, Mwambu said it will be practical if leaders sought to have a meeting by themselves away from funerals saying they will be sober enough to chat a way forward.
He added that during funerals some may only be saying issues to impress the crowds saying an exclusive meeting will be of mutual benefit to all as they will have to agree on a way forward regarding the unity issue.
The Bumula MP also assured residents of the constituency of his commitment to ensuring pupils learn under a conducive environment saying currently some pupils are learning in deplorable conditions and may be affected by pneumonia.
He says with the allocation of the CDF funds he will ensure all the classrooms in his constituency are well build as the pupils have to favourably compete with others.
His sentiments were echoed by Mukuyuni ward MCA Meshack Simiyu who called upon residents to support elected leaders in their mission to deliver on the promises made during the campaign period.
Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati called upon the national government to intensify security saying it is unfortunate that people are losing lives from incidences of insecurity, citing the Malakisi incident where a woman was shot dead.
He said officers who have overstayed at certain stations should be transferred saying some have overstayed hence relaxed in performing their duties as it is supposed to be.
