Busia Deputy Governor Kizito Wangalwa has challenged students to pursue education to their full potential saying there is no age limit in education.
The DG said the County Executive Committee Member for Agriculture and Animal Resources Dr Moses Mwanje Osia, 43, who recently graduated with a PhD in Strategic Management was worth emulating.
“It is also a confirmation that County Government Officers are people who have gone to school contrary to sceptics’ views,” he said. “It is also very encouraging to hear that Dr Osia graduated together with his son Bon Aaron Osia who acquired his first degree in Mass Communication. This is the way to go,” he added.
In his message, Dr Osia said youths are the future, and they should go back to school, overcoming all limitations, adding that with God all things are possible.
“Patience, humility and discipline paid off dividends for me since 2011 when I started pursuing my third degree. I have achieved it by the grace of God. I spent more time praying for it. My key verse is Proverbs Chapter 3:5-6,” he said, “I asked my son, if I could trans-night, what about him? I lost my hours of sleep. I could read up to 10pm and wake up at 3am every day since 2013. It has indeed been a long journey,” he said.
Dr Osia said with the acquisition of his third degree, it will help him implement sound strategies to eradicate poverty in Busia.
Dr Osia sat for his “O” levels at St Mary’s Mundika Secondary School before joining Egerton University where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture. He returned to the same college for a Master’s degree in Agriculture.
He said Busia needs people who are self-reliant in executing their tasks. “The youth can also embrace education, creativity and have transferable skills,” he said.
