Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB) and Catholic Justice and Peace Commission(CJPC) have come out strongly to condemn the cases of insecurity in the country, and have urged the government to prioritize security.
Citing the recent case in Eldoret where three children of a political aspirant were abducted and brutally murdered, the ongoing insecurity in Garissa and Laikipia counties by militia groups and terror gangs, the CJPC has called upon the government to do investigations and bring the offenders to book.
Speaking in Kakamega, they’ve said that they are aware that security agents deployed to those areas are using excessive force in the ongoing security operations calling upon the office of the Inspector General of police and the Independent Police Oversight Authority (IPOA) to expedite investigations into these allegations.
The commission has further warned politicians against using the food deficit being experienced in the country as a campaign tool.
They said they are surprised with how politicians are tackling the food issue, making it a political campaign propaganda yet poor Kenyans are suffering, calling upon the government to give a clear policy statement on the food situation in the country explaining to Kenyans where the food has been bought.
Finally, they urged Kenyans to use their conscience to elect leaders of integrity in the coming elections.
