Education CS Amina Mohamed has said close monitoring of the ongoing KCSE exams will continue and will also be present during the marking process. Speaking in Garissa during a KCSE exam monitoring exercise on Thursday, CS Amina said any signs of cheating will be noticed during marking, “Our marking procedures are set in such a way they’ll detect the slightest forms of cheating,” she said.
The Education CS said monitoring will go on even if the papers remaining are few, “I wish to assure the country we’ll relentlessly keep our high standards of examination monitoring no matter how few the remaining subjects will be. We must deliver our promise to the nation that of a credible examination, this will happen at any cost,” she affirmed.
She further said in order to tackle early exposure of exam papers, the distribution of the exam papers has been reviewed. Schools that are farthest from the exam paper containers are the first to receive the papers before the schools closet to the containers receive the papers, “This will reduce the time exam centres hold exam materials before scheduled start time, decreasing the chance of premature exposure.”
The CS said constant reshuffling and replacements of suspect exam officials has also helped to deal with exam malpractice schemes, given that some members of the public seek to collude with centre managers, supervisors or security officer to sneak foreign material in exam rooms to facilitate cheating.
