Public Service, Youth and Gender Affairs CS Margaret Kobia presided over the launch of the shift working system at Huduma centres. Speaking at GPO Teleposta Huduma Centre in Nairobi on Monday, CS Kobia said that said the launch of the shift working system exhibited by Huduma Kenya through the extended working hours will go a long way in offering excellent service delivery.
She said the system will enhance service delivery, “The shift working system will enhance service delivery and productivity, increase customer satisfaction and citizen trust and transform public service delivery,” she said. In the pilot phase, there shall be two shifts, with the first shift starting at 6.30 am to 1.30 pm, with the second shift starting from 1.00 pm to 7.30 pm.
The Public Service CS said the government is introducing a shift working system in major towns in the public service for two reasons: to create flexible working hours for public servants, and to provide services for longer hours to the public, “The Huduma centres in particular as we have come to witness today, is doing this on a three months pilot basis at the GPO/Teleposta Huduma Centre and City Square Huduma Centre,” she said.
CS Kobia said the innovation will promote the attainment of the Big Four Agenda, “As we endeavour to offer Big Four related services during these extended hours and shift working system, Kenyans will get access to the services, among many other services, that are the core of the Big Four Agenda as promised by his excellency the President Uhuru Kenyatta,” she said.
