The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has summoned eight Busia County MCAs for interrogation over allegations of corruption. They will be interrogated on allegations of corruption offences and forgeries regarding the County’s supplementary budget. The MCAs are Philip Emaset, Tony Opondo, Josephat Wandera, Stephen Ajakait, Godfrey Odongo, Gabriel Okello, Kenneth Ichasi and Margaret Chale.
In a letter addressed to the County secretary and the clerk of the assembly, EACC said the MCAs should appear before investigators at the integrity centre on Wednesday 12th September. The unrelenting war on corruption has already been felt in the County after Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong was on July presented before the anti-corruption court and charged with corruption-related offences. The Governor was released on a Kshs 1 million cash bail pending determination of the case.
