An elderly man was brutally killed over the weekend after a machete wilding gang attacked his home in Mukuva village, Munyuki sub location, Lugari sub-county.
According to the deceased’s wife Mrs. Sarah Nanjala three thugs who included two men and a lady gained entry into their house after breaking the backdoor few minutes past midnight on Sunday.
She said one of the men grabbed her and warned her against screaming threatening to kill her if she dared make any noise that would attract neighbours’ attention.
The other man together with the lady she said descended upon her husband Joseph Sifuma Ford with machete where they cut off both hands and sliced his neck.
Mrs. Nanjala said she tried to wrestle with the man who unknowingly dropped his cell phone in the house as they escaped leaving her husband unconscious.
She later raised alarm after the thugs had left and neighbours responded immediately to her distress call and rushed her husband to Lumakanda sub county hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Mrs. Nanjala who handed over the phone to security apparatus said she had identified one of the thugs (the lady) however she couldn’t tell the motive behind the attack and brutal murder of her husband.
Confirming the incident, acting Lugari OCPD Anthony Njeru said police have launched investigation into the matter with an aim of arresting and prosecuting the suspects.
The incident comes barely three weeks after a three year old girl was kidnapped, defiled before being murdered and her body dumped in river Kipkaren.
