The Federal Party of Kenya received a major boost in Kimilili constituency after one of the parliamentary aspirants Richard Masinde Sibilibili decided to join the party after parting ways with Ford Kenya party which the current MP Suleiman Murunga used to sail through to parliament.
Sibilibili cited issues of lack of transparency and fairness in the party that led to his fall out saying he had invested a lot in the party that included paying nomination fee as well as starting his own secretariat that was recruiting party members across the constituency.
He expressed his disappointment with his former party saying he thought all the aspirants will be given a level field in the nomination exercise, which is set to be carried out next week but unfortunately that was not forthcoming.
However, he expressed optimism of clinching the Kimilili parliamentary seat in the August 8th poll after being handed a direct Federal party nomination ticket saying he has been able to interact well with the electorates and even initiated development projects in his own individual capacity saying if given an opportunity he will be able to do more.
Mr Masinde called upon Kimilili residents to embrace his new move saying the Federal party is an affiliate of the NASA coalition and he will continue to support the Luhya presidential candidate hopefuls in their quest to be flagbearers.
On his part, the Federal party leader Andrew Kutitila said his party is vibrant and has attracted a number of aspirants from across the country exuding confidence that they will be able to clinch different political seats across the country.
However, he called upon aspirants in other parties to conduct their campaigns in a peaceful manner saying it will be upon the electorates to choose their own leader in the ballot.
Kutitila also challenged the Luhyia principals in the NASA coalition Musalia Mudavadi and Bungoma senator Moses Masika Wetangula to ensure one of them is the coalition’s flagbearer or a running mate saying they are experienced enough to be in those positions.
He further called upon the other NASA principals to accept the verdict if one of the Luhya candidates is picked saying each one of them has equal capacity to tackle the Jubilee government in the August polls.
Kutitila also welcomed more members to his party saying in the run-up to the general election saying parties are only vehicles of propelling leaders to their positions and should therefore not be used to divide residents.
