Former Vihiga Governor Moses Akaranga has condemned the acts of youths barricading roads across the County this morning. Speaking after casting his vote at Munugi Primary School in Sabatia Constituency Akaranga said those are primitive acts should be condemned in the strongest terms possible.
The locals barricaded the Kisumu-Kakamega road at Mbale that lead to running battles with the police. At Mbale market, the boda boda operators and touts were tear-gassed by the police to disperse them.
He said Kenyans have a right to vote and choose the leaders of their choice and they must be given chance to do so. The former Governor said those who are causing chaos and havoc in the area came from other neighbouring Counties. “Am informed those youths causing chaos from this County came from other neighbouring Counties and I call upon security agencies to contain the situation,” he said.
There is low turnout in the County, with little activity taking place at the polling stations in the region.
Elsewhere Former Vihiga MP Yusuf Chanzu cast his vote at Matsigulu Primary School where there was a low turnout. He said the current political situation in the country had caused economic sabotage adding that Presidential repeat poll had to be conducted to end this.
“Kenyans are suffering, no investors are willing to invest in the country because of this political turmoil,” he said. He urged the locals to come out in large numbers and vote before the end of the exercise.
