A four-storey building which was under construction in Kapsabet town has collapsed with at least 40 casual labourers trapped in the rubble. Eight people-six women and two men-have been already rescued from the rubble alive but injured and are receiving treatment at Kapsabet Referral Hospital where they have been admitted.
A rescue team from the red cross, police, and residents are assisting in the rescue process in an effort to find the missing people.
According to an eyewitness, the building under construction collapsed at around 1 pm on Thursday, with 56 labourers who had been contracted trapped inside. It is alleged that the owner is known and ran away following the incident.
