IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati has outlined the violation that led to the sacking of former IEBC CEO Ezra Chiloba. Chiloba’s contract termination took effect on Friday, bringing an end to what had become a shadowy tussle within the Commission’s power ranks, after an earlier suspension.
In a statement on Saturday, Chebukati said Chiloba failed to appear before the Commission’s Disciplinary Committee twice to answer to charges in tandem with fair administrative action, after he was found culpable for charges which arose from the Internal Audit Report on major procurements during the 2017 general election and the fresh presidential election.
Chebukati said the Commission was left with no other option, “Mr. Chiloba’s gross misconduct, breach and violation of Commission’s Human Resource and Administration policies as well as other relevant legislations (IEBC Act, PFM Act, PPAD Act, etc) left the Commission with no option other than to terminate his employment,” said Chebukati.
