Small hitches were experienced by some Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) as they went to present their nomination papers to IEBC officials at DIDC hall in Amagoro on Sunday. The Malaba South Ward aspirant Martin Idewa (UDP) had his papers rejected when his proposer and seconder failed to produce membership cards.
Idewa said the IEBC checklist had no requirements but the IEBC officials stood their ground and gave Idewa time to correct the anomaly and return his papers for clearance. The same fate befell the Malaba Central ward aspirant Chrisantus Ipala before the matter was solved.
Moses Ote (MCA Angurai South) who is standing as an independent candidate had also failed to come with the logo. Although it was not in the checklist he managed to avail it within a short time and was eventually cleared. He predicted a tough battle but exuded the confidence of winning the race.
Patrick Omanyala (Malaba North aspirant on a Wiper ticket), got a rude shock when he found his polling station had been switched to Teso South. “I had verified that my records were in order, but the IEBC data from Nairobi had the correct polling station but my Sub County was changed from Teso North to Teso South. IEBC promised to solve the anomaly,” he said
Those who were cleared without any hitches included Angurai East MCA Mark Moses Mamai (ANC), Ekolan Maurice Chetambe (Malaba North) Ford Kenya, Milton Akoit Barasa (Angurai South) ANC, Makhanu Mildred Nafuna (Malaba South) CCM, Edward Epuret (Malaba North) Jubilee and Kizito Echakara (Angurai North) Jubilee.
Onyapidi who was the first to be cleared said he will also be the first to clinch the seat on August 8th. Echakara also exuded the confidence of carrying the day. Aluku said he is ready to face his opponents.
