The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has released the final statistics of the voter register, with a total number of 19,611,423 registered voters. 88,602 deceased persons have been erased from the register. 9,930,315 registered voters are youth aged between 18 to 34 years.
According to a statement issued from the Electoral Commission Chairman Wafula Chebukati, it was noted that 53% of those registered are male, while 47% are female.
Nairobi County has the highest number of voters at 2,250,853 followed by Kiambu County with 1,180,920 voters. Nakuru County has the third highest number with 949,618 voters. Kakamega has the highest number of voters in the former Western Province, with 743,736 voters, followed by Bungoma County which 559,850. Moreover, there are 4,393 diaspora voters, and 5,528 prisons voters.
According to the electoral body, the Register of Voters will be made available online and via SMS for inspection starting Thursday 29th June 2017.
