Athletics Kenya Nyanza North Branch is holding its Districts cross country Championship today (Satuday) at their various districts headquarters.
The Branch Public Relations Officer Mr Jared Gilo Opul says the event will be held in six districts being Kisumu, Nyando, Rachunyo, Homabay, Bondo and Siaya.
Kisumu will hold their Championship at Kisumu Polytechnics sports ground, Nyando at Onjiko Boys High School Sport's ground and Rachuonyo at Agoro Sare Boys Secondary School’s Sports ground.
In the race there will be four categories, 12 Km race for senior men,8 Km for junior men where there will be also,8 Km for senior women race and 6 Km for junior women race..
Meanwhile, Homabay will hold the event at Homabay Municipal Stadium, Siaya at Siaya Municipal Stadium, while Bondo at Bondo University Sports ground. All district cross country Championships will start at 8.00 am.
"During the districts Championship, the selection of Athletes who are going to represent their districts in the provincial Championship which is to be held at Kisumu Polytechnics on February 4 in Kisumu will also be conducted," said Mr Gilo.
Elsewhere, during a branch meeting which was held at Nyanza's Provincial Director of Sports boardroom in Kisumu, Branch Chairman Mr James Rapenda said that Nyanza North branch, should now identify the upcoming athletes from Secondary Schools, Primary Schools and the Individuals.
Mr Rapenda said that Nyanza North branch will now concentrate mostly on sprints where Nyanza was once known at first. Switch to Our Mobile Site |
