When Mzee Protus Sitati Baraza and his family in Lutonyi village Kimilili District of Bungoma County discovered that his Jersey cow was expecting, they were an elated lot.
The cow had given birth two times before and this was to be its third calf. However, their happiness was short lived when the cow delivered a newborn calf that had unusual physical features.

The otherwise healthy calf had only one big eye on its forehead, no nose and a mouth that was upturned. The poor calf: a male, was visibly struggling to breathe as it was using his mouth to catch a little air.
Mr. Baraza says that his cow did not have any complications prior to the delivery and none of its other calves had any deformities.

He added, "I am not sure if it’s going to survive, and maybe the eye could be a blind one too". Meanwhile shocked villagers milled the compound to have a look at the calf. Switch to Our Mobile Site |
