Residents in the lager Teso district have raised concern over reluctance and adamancy of the political wing on issues concerning education.
Led by area women leader Mary Mandwa, the residents blamed their woes to politicians who they claimed to have neglected poor bright children in the area.
The residents accused leaders for turning down several fundraising ceremonies meant to help poor children to advance their education
“Our leaders have a bad record of not attending vital meetings to boost children who performed well in primary and secondary school, ‘’ said Mary.
They vowed to vote such leaders out and elect leaders with important party policies that will bring developments and improve education standards in the area.
The women leader called on the youth to remain vigilant and never be used by old leaders with selfish self interest but to vote for democracy and to elect a leader who deliver and give education first priority.
She also told the Youth to be alert about leaders who might misuse them, adding that leaders have been taking advantage of poor status of the youth.
“Young people should wake up and fight for their rights, vie for county seats and not to give into politics demands. Days are gone when people used to vote for old unlearned people it is time for change and youth should take positions,’’ She stated.
“Robust and vibrant people should take over, we are tired with old leadership, they have really misused our people’’ added the women leader
Women were also urged to rise up and vie for leaderships positions in the county in Oder to support poor bright children who cannot make it to tertiary institution.
“Leaders have been neglecting and oppressing women in the society forgetting that they are people on ground with vital information concerning problems affecting the society,” she said. Switch to Our Mobile Site |
