The deceased’s father Daniel Ochieng said they had left him with a strange girl identified as Achieng who had been rescued on Friday by his wife at the Kasarani market in Busia, where she had gone shopping to purchase some vegetables for supper.
“We went to church for service at around 10 am leaving the eight year old girl taking care of our two and a half year old son but on return at 4 pm, we found her missing from the house with the child nowhere to be seen,” said Ochieng.
Speaking to journalists at his home in Marachi estate, Ochieng said his effort to trace where his child was, left him in rude shock after he later found out that he was dead and fully covered with a blanket on the bed.
“The bed was neatly spread but checking on it carefully, something had been covered well in a blanket,” he said, revealing that it was his son, already dead with his body so stiff, having three nail marks on the neck.
He said his effort to raise an alarm received a positive response from neighbors who quickly advised him to report the matter to the village elder who alerted the police officers for intervention in a matter of urgency.
The area village elder Peter Ojanji urged residents to report to the police station children suspected to have got lost to avoid witnessing a similar scenario that has left many in shock over the demise of the two and a half year old child.
However, some of the area residents believe it might have been a devil worshipper who committed the murder because the child had no blood at all in his body after he was found dead.
