ODM party officialls led by the its National chairman Henry Kosgei at the Anniversary Towers where they recieved their certificate for complying with the Plotical Parties Act requirements.

The Orange Democratic Party –ODM led by its party National Chairman Mr. Henry Kosgey has said that the Deputy Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi was still the deputy leader of the party and that “he had not quit the party.”

Speaking after the party received its certificate of full registration after complying with the requirements of the Political Parties Act, in a statement issued to media houses, he was happy to be a part of the team that is going to form the next government at the expiry of President Kibaki’s tenure in State House.

“ODM will form the next government. This is a people’s party and a movement that is going to win the next general election” said Mr. Kosgey.

However, speaking in Nairobi during the certification of Nairobi City council as an International standard Organization, Mudavadi once again chose to remain silent on his next political move saying that he is going to do so in due time.

Mudavadi instead called upon Kenyans to remain united saying that Kenyans should not allow political parties to divide them into tribes. “Let’s remain united as a nation, we need to bring Kenyans together, shun tribalism and defuse tension in the country.”

This was echoed by Mr. Kosgey who challenged Kenyans to vote in leaders who are committed to the well being of Kenya.

“Gone are the days when people fought for power just to satisfy their own needs and that of their family members. ODM is ready to provide the leadership that Kenyans have been waiting for, for many years” charged Mr. Kosgey.

The occasion was also witnessed by Assistant Ministers Hassan Joho, Elizabeth Ongoro, Mansion Nyamweya, Simeon Ogari and Alfred Khang’ati. Legislators present were Omondi Anyanga, Olago Aluoch and Ababu Namwamba. Nairobi Mayor Mr. George Aladwa, ODM Executive Director Ms. Janet Ong’era, NEC Members, National Elections Board Members and hundreds of party members and supporters.

Mudavadi reiterated on the need of all local authorities to keep records of all their assets saying that some people are likely to take advantage of devolution to change title deeds of council properties into their names.

“Let’s have a clear record of all the assets of our local authorities, we should be custodians of all public assets during the transition to county government,” he added.

Nairobi Mayor Joe Aladwa further indicated on the need for Kenyans to vote for people not because of their tribe. “I have been getting claims that the minister, the mayor and the town clerk are all from Vihiga County, I did not apply to be a Luhya or either a Kenyan, in fact am proud to be a Luhya and we have done a lot as people from Vihiga county.”

City clerk Phillip Kisia on his part said that the council has done so much to achieve the certification by ISO and even as he leaves to major in politics he believes that he has transformed the council. Kisia revealed that local authorities are going to form the next government.
