Former Maendeleo ya Wanawake national chairperson of Ms. Zipporah Kittony has said that she would not be swayed to decamp KANU party.

Ms. Kittony said that she has been serving the party loyally for several years and would not be convinced to ditch it to any other party.

She said, “I am in KANU because of its good policies. I will not be informed otherwise.”

Ms. Kittony who was speaking to women during Centre for Multiparty Democracy (CMD) meeting held at Christian Intermediate Christian Centre (CICT) in Kapsabet told women to hold their grounds on party politics.

She said that it would be wise for women to make informed decisions and remain unmoved and focused so that they can attain their ideals and serve the nation well.

“Believe in yourselves, make decisions and stay where you are then do an impressive work for the nation,” she told the women.

Kittony told several women aspiring for various positions to remain focused and pursue their ambitions without fear adding that the constitution had given them adequate political space.

“Unite in your quests. We cannot realize political ambitions if we have differences amongst ourselves,” she said.

She said that she had not made up her mind whether she would vie for any post but urged women to come out in numbers in support of women representation in county government and in the national assembly.

Various women aspirants including Ms. Zipporah Kering, Dr.Tecla Tum and Ms. Judy Koskei were present during the function.

No aspirant was granted permission to speak but Koskei who spoke to the press minutes after after the meeting expressed hope that politics were taking a new turn especially since women were now actively involved.

The Women County Representative aspirant said, “I believe that change has actually taken place and Kenya will realize vision 2030 since there is unity in leadership.”
