Mrs Magrate Muthoni, a 36 year old woman who was shot on the right arm by thugs. She has been refered to the Kakamega General hospital for medical attention following multiple fractures sustained on the hand.
Two people were killed and one injured on Thursday night following an attack by a three man gang armed with a gun at the High Rock village, Busia County.
Confirming the incident, Busia OCPD Kenneth Kimani said the three raided a home in the area and shot one person, before proceeding out of the compound where they shot a BodaBoda operator who was headed towards the direction they were coming from.
Kimani added that during the incident which took place at around 11.30pm, a woman who was also out of her house to relieve herself was shot on the right hand at the elbow.
“The police officers managed to rush the three affected victims to the Busia district hospital where two among them were pronounced dead as they were receiving medical treatment,” he said, speaking to journalists.
The OCPD said they have launched investigations over the incident to ascertain the motive behind the attack, adding that they will not relent until the suspects involved are apprehended.
He urged the area residents to embrace a close working relationship with the police officers through providing vital information to relevant authorities in a bid to curb cases of insecurity.
“We must remain vigilant at night to ensure that we do not move outside our houses in case of any danger. There is also need for joint efforts from both the security agencies and the public to fight crime,” said Kimani.
Speaking to West FM, Amerikway ward civic leader Erick Adome expressed concern over the killings, saying it was an indication that the officers in charge of security were reluctant in their line of duties.
Among the two who died, one is said to have been a teacher at Bwamani primary school in Busia district. Switch to Our Mobile Site |
