Deputy Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi has revealed that in a week’s time he will be making his fine decision on which party he is going to use to assent in to presidency.

His announcement will be from what he termed as “there is no turning back” when he held a consultative meeting in Kakamega County a few weeks ago.

Musalia who was speaking at the Pentecostal Assemblies of God church head quarters at Nyangori in Hamisi of Vihiga County during the national Women’s Convetion, he said he was still consulting widely and at the same time, he thanked his supporters for their patience.

Mudavadi, who is ODM deputy party leader, urged the congregation to vote in people with integrity, good leaders who put the interest of the people they serve at heart and not based on tribal lines.

In attendance the New Ford Kenya party leader who is also the minister for Housing Soita Shitanda echoed his sentiments stating that this country underwent the darkest moment in its history during the last general elections and advised Kenyans to shun tribalism.

Mudavadi persuaded to join URP

Elsewhere, in Lugari pressure continued to pile on Musalia, to declare his next move after hinting of ditching Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) to avoid keeping his supporters in the cold.

Addressing a fundraiser in aid of university students at Lumakanda Township grounds Saturday, Lugari legislator, Hon. Cyrus Jirongo, advised Mudavadi to tread carefully even as he shops for a political outfit that would propel him to state house.

Wooing the DPM to his United Republican Party (URP), Jirongo warned him against crafting a new political party, noting that time for such was not on his side.

“After his departure from ODM, forming a new political outfit at this moment should not be part of Mudavadi’s options. When will he register and popularize such a party?” wondered Jirongo.

Jirongo appealed to the local government minister to join URP and battle it out for presidential nominations with other contenders including him, Eldoret North and Matuga MPs, Hon. William Ruto and Ali Chirau Mwakere respectively among others.

The outspoken legislator singled out URP as the only political party with a national outlook at the moment, especially after PNU and ODM parties seem to be falling apart due to internal wrangles that rocked them.

He added that unlike other major political parties, URP was free from dictatorship, adding that its presidential nominations will be done in a free and transparent manner.

Jirongo told the electorate from western province he was the bestsuited presidential candidate from the region, assuring them of having garnered enough support countrywide for the presidency.

Asking the electorate for his support, Jirongo said that he was sure of floating other presidential nominees in URP before running for the presidency.

Jirongo was flanked by several civic leaders from western and rift valley provinces.

A total Sh 778,300 was raised during the function with a personal contribution of Sh 500,000 from Jirongo.

The money was meant to assist needy university students from Lugari pay fees.
