A body of an 80 years old man which has been lying at Mbale District Hospital Mortuary for the last one and a half years was finally laid to rest over weekend.
The deceased Mr. Harun Inyambula was buried at Mago village in Sabatia district Vihiga County.
Confirming the incident the area chief John Kidali said the late Inyambula died one and a half years ago after selling his piece of land after having lost his only son.
Kidali said the late then shifted to stay with her daughter Mavaya Inyambula where he passed on.
It was until the time when her daughter Mavaya was planning for the burial that she came to realize that the late father had sold his piece of land and issued the title deed to the buyer without her consent.
Kidali added that Mavaya in collaboration with the brother to the deceased went to court so as the late could be buried on his land but they lost the case on realizing that the deceased had issued the land title deed to the buyer.
The deceased could not be buried on his daughter’s marital land according to the Maragoli custom.
According to the Mbale district Medical Superintendent Francis Odira, the family was allowed to take the body after they had confirmed that they had found a place to bury the deceased.
The deceased was buried at his late son’s piece of land at Mago shopping after an agreement with the family. Switch to Our Mobile Site |
