Two political allies now come rivals DPM Musalia Mudavadi and PM Raila Odinga together in a past function, are expected to meet in Vihiga County this Saturday.

The Prime Minister Raila Odinga will be meeting his rival Deputy Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi after he ditched the Orange Democratic Party –ODM in his own backyard this Saturday for the burial of Mzee Jason omwera, the father of Nairobi Mayor George Aladwa at Isitzi Village, Isava location in Sabatia.

The last time the two met was last year December during the Maragoli cultural festival at Mbale where both before the latest events early this week had declared that they will support the decision of party members and support whoever will be nominated by the delegates in line with party internal democracy.

The Prime Minister Raila Odinga had also termed as mere propaganda allegations that he has intention to nominate a running mate from another region saying he will stick with those in the party.

With the Prime minister’s tour to the region, it’s seen as a move to appease the electorates who seem to be swayed by the new shift of Musalia to the United Democratic Forum Party as his vehicle to presidency in the forth coming elections.

The Premier whose schedule will see him touring two counties, Vihiga and Kakamega, with a major rally in Mumias Town after the ODM youth league at Kitale Trans Nzoia begun their two day ODM Youth Caravan which will pass through Bungoma County to Kakamega. More than fifteen ODM legislators including Ababu Namwaba, Rachel Shebesh, Alfred Khangati, Alferd Sambu and Magret Wanjiru are expected to attend the campaign trail which will cover all parts of western province including stop over at Kitale, Webuye, Bungoma, and Kakamega.

Prior this, the Trans Nzoia Youth ODM treasurer Miss Lina Ochieng  said that it is high time the young women competed with their male counter parts in vying for positions within the political arena rather than waiting to be spoon fed with the special seats.

She noted that they are equally good to compete for the seats and should not be intimidated by anyone in their quest for running for political seats.

Either the youth League chairman Trans Nzoia county Mr. Shem Chelule called upon the youth to register for identification cards so as to participate in the voting process citing that this year’s voter registration will be in a time when learning institutions will have been closed so most of the youths will be at home.

The ODM youth coordinator Mr. Jacob Rotich said that they were planning to organize a caravan to sensitize the youth on elections matters on Friday.

The Premiers’ tour is being watched keenly to see how he will remain dear to the Western region people with the departure of his deputy.

Thursday Raila reassured ODM supporters that the party will still triumph during the coming polls, despite recent defection of deputy party leader Musalia Mudavadi.

He said latest opinion polls still placed the Orange party ahead of the rest but asked members to continue wooing more supporters into the fold to further widen the gap.

Raila said pollsters had recorded an increase in the popularity of the party which they found to have gone up from 37% to 54% even after some key party figures decamped.

The Premier who held a press conference at the Jomo Kenyatta International airport upon arrival from a weeklong tour abroad asked ODM members not to take offense against defectors.

He said the party respected and upheld the democratic freedoms and ideals the country enjoys and said those interested to pursue their political aspirations elsewhere we within their rights to do so.

“It is in this democratic ferment and freedom that my good friend Musalia Mudavadi has freely chosen to pursue an opportunity to advance own and Kenya’s goal,” he said.
