Irate mourners in Teso South District descended upon a middle aged man with kicks and blows on allegation of carrying a dead dog to a funeral Thursday.
The rare incident happened at the burial ceremony of Leah Okochil in Kawaaga village where the catholic priest presiding over the ceremony was stunned and forced to hold the proceedings for over 20 minutes when hell broke loose after the bizarre incident.
The accused Philip Kilonzo is said to have arrived at the funeral with the dead dog which he placed near the coffin of the deceased. This act provoked the wrath of the deceased relatives who saw him and immediately set upon him with kicks and blows continuously creating tension at the funeral that had earlier on started in peace
Lucky for him, Kilonzo was rescued by good Samaritans who intervened, pleaded with the disappointed family that had expected mercy and sympathy from neighbors.
“Leave us to teach him a lesson of the year and how to leave in Teso land,’’ uttered a fed up relative.
The dead dog was later removed from the homestead and buried in the bush after the disappointed priest had left miserably while mourners and passersby were left with their mouths wide agape trying to picture out the motive behind the incident. Switch to Our Mobile Site |
