Residents of Siritanyi village in the outskirts of Bungoma town woke up to a shocking morning when they found the body of Wycliffe Nairobi brutally murdered and damped in a pool of water along the railway line.
The deceased 27 years old a hawker in Kanduyi town, was murdered by unknown criminals a few meters away from their home.
According to Evans who was in the company of the deceased, he told police that they were ambushed by an armed group of over 20 people who begun harassing them near the Siritanyi Bridge.
He said they were told to kneel down hands up, but the deceased adamantly refused running away with the armed people chasing him behind.
“He was raising alarm and they said ‘we must kill him’, I was left kneeling down, fortunately, I took advantage of the situation and escaped using another route,’’ he revealed.
Now, the area residents have called on the police to beef up security in the area which is now a hot spot for criminals.
They accused police officers at Siritanyi post for doing de-service to the community asserting that they are not conducting night patrols giving room for the criminals to harass them an murdering innocent people.
“We cannot continue to lose our people in the hands of criminals, we are appealing to the police to either beef up security or we will take the law into our own hands and eliminate all criminals,’’ the youth declared.
The Bungoma Police Boss Amos Cheboi said night patrols will be intensified while urging residents to embrace community police by giving important information to the security agents.
The incident comes hardly a day after a police officer one Fred Barasa was buried in the neighboring Sinoko village after he was brutally murdered by unknown criminals and his body dumped on the railway line near the Bungoma GK prisons.
