Two months after Ang’aro Primay School in Teso North closed for lack of proper toilets by the ministry of public health and sanitation, pupils and staff finally returned to the institution Wednesday.
Angurai Division public health officer Situma Masike, said that the school management failed to comply with the three weeks agreement set for them to construct toilets for the children.
“Toilets and some classes in the school had been already condemned by the society before the ministry raised an alarm. The buildings could obviously cause harm to our children prompting the ministry to close the school down,’’ explained Masike.
The school with 372 pupils and staff lauded the help from constituency development funds which gave out Sh 150,000 to construct new toilets in their school. Parents and teachers also congratulated the efforts made by Teso north Mp aspirant Arthur Odera who donated Sh 40,000 to help the needy pupils who have been staying at home for now two months to get back to school and work on their dreams.
The school’s deputy head teacher Bramwel Ipale disclosed that school needs Sh 800,000 for it to be fully fledged. He therefore, appealed to the government to come in with haste to help them construct the remaining classrooms. Switch to Our Mobile Site |
