Wonder and confusion hit Sirisia village in Kituni Sub-location, Webuye constituency after residents of the area were shocked to come face to face with a man who was believed to have died one year ago.
Mr. George Namwetako resurfaced after he was allegedly buried in March last year, following the message received by his relatives that he had died while on duty in Bondo and his body taken to a mortuary in Vihiga District.
Mr.Namwetako came home, only to be welcomed by shocked residents who were surprised by his appearance, since it is believed that he was buried and forgotten.
Instead of being welcomed home with joy, the surprises turned to a somber mood as the residents feared that a dead person may have risen back to life yet still the grave was intact and untouched.
The area Chief Mr. Martin Silali has called upon the family members to welcome him back well and settle the whole misunderstanding. He also explains that there was probably a confusion during the identification of the body and misinformation that has led to the situation at hand.

However the relatives to the man insisted on Bukusu rituals to be done before the man is officially allowed back into the home. Despite all the reassurance by the elders in the community that all will be well after the traditional ritual that was aimed at cleansing the mistakenly dead man the father, Mr. Joseph Barasa refused completely to welcome him back.
Mr.Barasa had no reason of doing so but insisted on denying him as his son stating openly that his biological son was dead and buried.
However the mother Mrs. Judith Barasa welcomed him cordially with open arms and could not wait for the ritual to be done before re-uniting with her son again. Switch to Our Mobile Site |
