Mr. Khisa Tobias (above) the head teacher of Bungoma DEB primary said that the major challenge they are facing in training the athletes is lack of enough playing field for practice. ‘we have been liaising with the principal of Bungoma high school who has been allowing primary school pupils to use the high school compound for athletics’, said Mr. Khisa.
Mr. Khisa who is the host head teacher said that because of lack of enough field on his school compound, pupils from class one to class five were told to remain at home in order to give room for participants from other schools to be accommodated.
For the same reason only, a few pupils from each participating school were allowed to attend the athletics competition today.
Mr. Benedicts Wanyonyi, a teacher at Sio primary who is the chairman for the athletics in the Bungoma zone said that the changes in the term dates has affected the sports calendar but they are hoping to adopt the new schedule soon.
The organizing secretary for the athletics in the zone Mr. James Fuchaka said that efforts are being made to visit schools that failed to participate in the today’s athletics competition. The move is aimed at reaching out for more talent in the pupils who had missed today’s event. Switch to Our Mobile Site |
