Twenty suspected robbers broke into to two secondary schools in Teso North District on Sunday night and destroyed property of unknown value.
The thieves are said to have broken into Bishop Sulumeti Girls but their attempt to rob the school was rendered fruitless by advanced security alarms set up in the school.
The burglars are said to have progressed to neighboring school Katakwa Secondary school and broke into two offices, the principal accounts office and the deputy principal’s office escaping with Sh 7000, computer accessories and Dvd machines.
Addressing the press in the school compound, Gregory Serete the school principal said that the thieves were mainly targeting money as valuable school property were left untouched in the two offices .
Serete pointed accusing fingers to the two security officers on duty confirming that one of them was found sound asleep in an office while the second was nowhere to be seen the following morning having missed to be on duty. He said it was not a normal coincidence that the officers were not at the main gate at the same time.
Police are now holding the security officer who was found sound asleep in the office and he is currently assisting the police with the investigations. Switch to Our Mobile Site |
