As Kitale town residents continue to grapple with congestion problems, the municipal council of Kitale has distanced itself from the issue pointing an accusing finger to the police and provincial administration.
The Deputy Mayor Mr. Pius Arap Kauka said that their directive that all public vehicles be moved from the CBD was met with resistance pitying the council with the provincial administration and police forcing the plan to abort.
Confirming the claims, the head of town planning counselor Janet Nangabo, said that they had raised the issue since time immemorial and that the situation has worsened on the introduction of boda boda motorbikes that pick and drop passengers anywhere in town making motorist have a hard time driving through town.
“We don’t dispute the importance of boda bodas in our life as it has changed the way we travel and it is a source of employment to our youngsters but they need to respect traffic rules and town by laws,” cllr Nangabo noted. Switch to Our Mobile Site |
