A disagreement erupted between a primary school head teacher and the local community in Likuyani district following allegations that the teacher had manipulated records and registered the school’s land as his private property.
The parents led by Likuyani ward councilor Julius Dalidi bitterly expressed their displeasure over the incident and are now threatening a public demonstration that will culminate into the forceful removal of the teacher.
The community has been infuriated by report no 15091 appearing in the copy of the Kenya gazette dated 02/12/2011 that indicated the teacher as the owner of 4 hectares of land where the school is established.
Members of the community said explanations by the teacher that he decided to register school land in his name following futile attempts to find a title deed that had been reported missing were unsatisfactory and fraudulent.
Commenting on the matter is the District Commissioner John Ayienda who appealed to politicians to stop inciting members of the public as his office seeks amiable explanations.
The DC promised to convene an urgent meeting at the school next week with a view to finding a solution to the problem.
