St Antony’s Boys high school in Kitale qualified to participate in the Trans Nzoia County secondary schools soccer championships after thrashing Holy Trinity secondary school Saboti 3-0 in the district finals held at the victor’s home ground.
With two goals from Marcelas Ingotsi and one from Dennis Nandwa scored in the second half St Anthony’s sealed their deal to become the Trans Nzoia West district champions while their opponents too qualified as runners-up to also participate in the county games to be held mid next week.
To qualify for the finals St Anthony’s had beaten Matisi secondary a similar margin of 3-0 while Holy Trinity pipped St Joseph’s with 2-1.
In other disciplines, Kabuyefwe beat Weaver bird 6-0 in the girl’s soccer while in volleyball matches Weaver Bird beat Kabuyefwe 3 sets to nil in the finals while the boys volleyball final was postponed midway after it was interrupted by heavy rains that pounded the area.
Before the interruption, Weaver Bird was leading St Anthony’s by two sets to one and thus the game is expected to be replayed today Monday starting from 10 A.M.
The county finals shall be held on Wednesday and Thursday where each district including Kwanza and Trans Nzoia East shall produce two teams each to participate in the finals.
The district games were delayed for a week after the organizing committees failed to raise the funds to run the games and thus had the county lag behind other regions and that is why the county matches shall be held in the middle of the week. Switch to Our Mobile Site |
