Teso Police have arrested a Petrol station manager for allegedly selling fuel mixed with water to vehicle owners.
The Wednesday incident at Magaribi petrol Station in Malaba Border brought business to a standstill after three drivers, two heading towards Kenya from Uganda and one an area resident bought 70, 54 and 10 liters of fuel respectively, alleged that their vehicles failed to start after the purchase.
This forced areas residents mostly motorcycle operators to storm the pointing accusing fingers to the station workers over what they termed “oppression of the poor”.
Teso police Boss Elphas Korir confirmed the incident saying that the sample would be forwarded to government chemistry for analysis for police to launch investigations on the incident.
Korir condemned the incident calling it the highest level of crime that could pose danger to the people promising to probe the issue and have the cartels brought to book and dealt with.
The OCPD issued a stern warning to petrol owners adding that anyone who will be found operating the illegal business will face the full force of the law to serve as an example to be emulated. Switch to Our Mobile Site |
