Gor Mahia have been awarded a walk-over after AFC Leopards failed to turn up for their top 8 quarter final clash
Gor Mahia players and the match officials were at the pitch but leopards that are on top of the Kenya premier league with 40 points failed to honor the match.
The match did not kick-off as per formalities of a walk-over and after 20 minutes, on the recommendation of the Match Commissar, Paul Kaunda Gor Mahia was named the winners on account of 2-0 scoreline.
Gor Mahia will now play Tusker FC in the semi-finals of the tournament.
AFC Leopards officials had made a ruling that they will not make the match, for reasons linked to the finances required in preparation, and they honoured their promise.
Leopards are now set to face a minimum of KSh5million after the agreements made by the KPL. Switch to Our Mobile Site |
