The 2011 Miss USA Spectacle model Teresa Scanlan projects to assist needy students in Nandi County with the construction of Ksh 70 million school.
Scanlan who toured the region said many needy and bright children in the Kenyan society were unable to live to their life time career dreams due to high cost of secondary education tied with poverty.
The 19 year old model, said that she would be on the forefront in fundraising campaigns for the purpose of raising funds that will assist in the construction of the institution that is to be completed early 2014.
The model said she was already paying school fees for a number of high school students in Kenya with vulnerable backgrounds as a result of being either orphaned, poor single parents or from extreme poor families.
She added her organization, the Imani Community Development Inc. based in Maryland USA where she has teamed up with a group of Kenyans to help meet the needy clever children access education, said she would also extend support to Kapsabet girls high school.
Scanlan who is joining the University of Washington State University in the next few weeks to study Law, called upon Kenyans, Multi-national companies and Organization, to extend support to many needy and vulnerable Kenyan children to education.
The model who was accompanied by Kapsabet Mayor Clr.Michael Rono, later visited two of the students she supports, Florence Adhiambo and Abigael Jepng’etich at their school where she pledged to extend more support to other needy ones.
Scanlan hails from the State of Nebraska disclosed that she might be eyeing for an elective post after completion of her University Education which would take her Seven years where she had interests to specialize in law prosecution.
Scanlan first joined modeling at the age of 17 winning Miss Nebraska and in the same year became Miss USA and later runners up during the Miss World 2011 pageant concert in China.
She is in Nandi by the invitation of a Sister Non Governmental Organization, Imani community Development Group (K) which does charity work targeting community based projects targeting Education activities in Nyanza, Western and Rift Valley provinces.
