MALABA Police are holding an Eritrean Citizen for unlawfully sneaking into Kenya through the Malaba border.
The Suspect Efrem Tewelde, 39, was nabbed as he tried to cross the border at the clearing yard by an Administration police officer attached to the immigration office with combined effort from Senior Immigration Officer Mr. Wilfred Chepkole.
The suspect is claimed to have been determined to reach Mombasa to transport goods to Juba of Southern Sudan was taken to Malaba Police Station where he is being held and will be arraigned in court Wednesday for illegally being in Kenya contrary to Section 53(1) J of the Kenyan Citizenship and Immigration Act 2011.
According to immigration rules, the man was supposed to be cleared in Kampala at the Kenyan Embassy screening office.
‘’The man was supposed to pass through Kenyan embassy screening before entering Kenya and Uganda officers at the migration office must have allowed the man to enter Kenya maybe at a fee since he was found in possession of a passport with no stamp from Uganda,” explained the officer on condition of anonymity.
