Lack of identity cards was a great hindrance to most of the youth who turned up to try their luck in the ongoing Kenya Defense Force recruitment exercise in Kimilili District of Bungoma County.

In an interview with the press the officer in charge of the exercise Lieutenant Colonel Isaiah Kangor said most of them had only waiting cards which was less the qualifications to join the forces as required by them.

He further disclosed that others were having identity cards, but the names differed with those posted on their original Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) certificates hence automatically being disqualified.

“Some had three names in their identity cards while two in their certificates so we cannot be sure that its one and the same person,” said Kangor

However, he applauded the high turn up of the youth for the exercise which he termed to be absolutely free of charge, which witnessed more than four hundred youths from the district show up.

During the exercise one of the youth who sought to short cut his way to be selected was disqualified after he was spotted hiring a motorcycle to be dropped ahead of the rest during the running exercise.

At the end, five boys and one girl qualified to join the training schools with Lieutenant Colonel Kangor thanking residents of Kimilili for maintaining peace throughout the whole exercise.

He said that their next stop over will be in Bungoma east District on Wednesday next week.
