Residents in Mbale District at Busiu Sub County have directed the District Residence Commissioner Paul Nangoli to bring the President of the republic of Uganda himself if they are to accept the construction of the proposed Dam project along River Manafa.
A section of angry residents who had gathered in a meeting with the Mbale District RDC and other security officials held at Busiu Sub County head quarters blamed the RDC for not doing enough.
The residents are against implementation of the Dam project which they say is aimed at grabbing their land.
The Mbale RDC Paul Nangoli has however refused the allegations saying that the Government is ready to compensate all those to be affected.
Elsewhere in Mbale, a Court martial sitting in Bugema barracks has started hearing a case against Captain Rashid Angika attached to Soroti military barracks who is facing charges of murder.
The UPDF third Division spokes person Captain MB- Minjo said that Angika is alleged to have shot dead two of his fellow army officers on 22 of July 2012 at Soroti Military barracks for a reason not yet known.
Court chairman Colonel Martin Deide referred Angika for a mental check up in Kampala to establish if he is really mentally disturbed. Switch to Our Mobile Site |
