The Kenya Defense Force (KDF) recruitment that was conducted on Friday in Hamisi and Vihiga Districts saw a total of 11 youths being taken with only 1 female candidate sailing through.
The recruitment exercise was conducted at Hamisi grounds in Hamisi District and in Vihiga District the exercise was fair and successful.
The recruitment in Vihiga District which was conducted at Mbale High School drew interested youths from the five locations in Vihiga District namely; Mung’oma, Lugaga, Wamuluma, Maragoli South and Central.
According to the senior recruitment officer Lieutenant colonel Juma Mwinyika the essence of going down to locations was to give chance to all participants from the five locations.
Mwinyika also said that this year’s recruitment was giving priority to academics, fitness both mentally and physically and health wise.
“We want the successful candidate to serve this nation that’s why we made sure that any of them who met the standards was taken,” he said.
He also mentioned that the recruits were to be ready to take training for 6 months and at the end of training, to be ready to serve and protect our country.
The senior recruitment officer however lamented that this year’s turn up of both boys and especially girls was not good compared to other years but his team somehow managed to pick the targeted number.
“We had to use our own initiative to make the women succeed since most of them did not meet the required standards,” he cited.
Mwinyika praised the congregation that was present at the recruiting site for their discipline, citing that he didn’t experience any indiscipline issues from them as it usually is during the recruitments. Switch to Our Mobile Site |
