Justice and Constitutional Affairs Minister Eugene Wamalwa has refuted to claims published in a section of the media that he intends to ditch his presidential ambitions in support of the Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta as a running mate come the next general elections.

Addressing the press Tuesday at the party headquarters flanked by Canon Benjamin Mwima who is the party secretary general for New Ford Kenya and other NEC officials, the Saboti legislature stated that all the G7 Alliance members have a party to use as presidential candidates, assuring his supporters that he wasn’t ready to back off from his presidential bid.

“We only came together as G7 members during the launch of the newly formed party, The National Alliance (TNA), of which this gives as the opportunity to unite all Kenyans from different parts of the country as we seek a constitutional requirement of fifty plus one for one to win an election,” said Wamalwa.

Mr. Wamalwa disclosed that the G7 Alliance members intent to build a grand alliance after the first round of presidential elections as per the Political Parties Act, before them supporting one member to battle it out with another candidate from the opposing camp.

The Minister urged his supporters to remain united in the party while also cautioning them not to be swayed by a section of the media who he claims “have their own interests” and were being used by some individuals to create disharmony in the party together with the alliance.

On his part, New Ford Kenya secretary general  Cannon Benjamin Mwema who is also a member of the National Executive Council said the party was planning to roll out a national campaign with the aim of rebranding the party giving it a new outlook by opening new offices , registering new members and also wooing more supporters.

He supported the NEC decision of endorsing Mr. Wamalwa as a presidential candidate saying that they won’t waiver on their stand despite some members of the party shifting allegiance to the Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Musalia Mudavadi who recently decamped to United Democratic Forum (UDF) after falling out with ODM party leader who is also the Prime Minister Mr. Raila Odinga.

“The NEC met on sixteenth last month and we agreed in unison to support Hon.Wamalwa as our flag bearer and till today we haven’t changed anything” affirmed Mwema.

The secretary general who is the party spokesman when asked a about a move by his party leader and also a serving minister for Housing Soita Shitanda and the Ikolomani member of parliament Dr Bonny Khalwale for supporting the Sabatia member of parliament, a member of UDF, he said according to the Political Parties Act 2011, the registrar of political parties had not received any letter from the Malava Mp and Dr.Khalwale stating their defection.

Wamalwa’s statement comes after a section of the press allegedly published a report linking him with a move of supporting the Uhuru Kenyatta  who is the new party leader of the newly launched The National Alliance Party a few days ago, putting aside his quest for presidency and instead opting to be offered the position of running mate before the next general elections.
