Students in Bungoma County have been called upon to concentrate in their studies and work tirelessly hard in their education both in and outside the class for them to emerge as relevant persons in the society.

Talking to west fm in his office at Bungoma DEB Primary School the Deputy Headteacher Mr. Kelvin Wanyama called upon all education stakeholders in various schools to organize educational tours and visit other performing schools for their pupils and students to acquit themselves with whatever the others are doing to perform better.

“This move will help them to acquire new methods of learning and also set up a stiff competition among them, Wanyama said.

Teachers should encourage team work among students for the weak students to be motivated and improve in their weak point areas. Group discussions should be initiated and students with different abilities included in one group for them to help each other.

Teachers were also urged to cover the syllabus in advance, as it is a requirement for students’ good performance because they will have ample time for revision of what they have learned in the past years.

Wanyama insisted that both Primary and Secondary Institutions should bring up an all round student, a student who performs well in class as well as participates in co-curriculum activities offered in their school.

He said that it is through the activities that the student will be able to nature their talents.

“Teachers and Board Of Governors should set up a talent search day especially on Fridays afternoon as it is done in some schools, this will refresh up the mind of students and hence make them to discover their talents, he added.

Parents who punish their children for indulging in co-curriculum events have been urged to stop the act because the constitution allows any child to have freedom to play and that is why schools normally have break sessions in their schedule.
