A meeting of Jubilee aspiring candidates in Nandi which was taking place at the Jubilee offices in Namgoi area ended up in disarray after the candidates failed to agree on the issue of Jubilee smartcards.
The meeting which was chaired by one of the National party Director Andrew Limo and Nandi Jubilee chair Sammy Chirchir together with other county party officials came to a close following the disagreement.
The issue of the smartcards brought the meeting to a stand still as the aspirants refused to take heed of the cards, terming them as a ploy meant to block them from getting votes.
Everyone who rose to share his or her views concerning the use of the party smartcards totally refuted the idea, and they urged the party to find an alternative way.
According to the party norms, the smartcards will be sold to all aspirants vying on the Jubilee ticket. The aspiring candidates said it’s not possible because they are on the ground to campaign and mobilize people to register as voters but not to sell smartcards.
They cited that Jubilee is playing games with them, saying they deposited a total of Kshs 20,000 for party membership and nothing more is needed. They demanded an explanation from the National party office as to why the launch of the smart cards was conducted without their consent saying the party would have sought their opinion first before going too far.
