Jubilee leaders in Trans Nzoia County have castigated NASA leaders for allegedly inciting Kenyans to boycott the repeat polls. Earlier, NASA leaders visited the County and held a function, which was neglected by Governor Patrick Khaemba, and urged the residents not to turn up at the voting centres. Led by their leader Raila Odinga, they revealed that they’ll hold further peaceful demos and that they won’t take part in the repeat elections, adding that they’ll issue a directive to their supporters on Wednesday concerning the next step to take. NASA co-principal Moses Wetangula urged supporters to shun the voting centres on Thursday, saying they shouldn’t be found there.
The utterances didn’t go down well with Jubilee leaders in the County who criticized them for engineering anarchy and urged residents to ignore the sentiments. Water Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa urged residents to avoid divisiveness propagated by politicians. He said Wetangula, as a lawyer, should propagate and preach peace because he knows the implications of violence.
CS Wamalwa urged IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati to ignore calls form NASA leaders to resign, saying he is mandated to be in charge of the repeat polls.
His sentiments were echoed by County woman representative Janet Nangabo, who said politicians who don’t come from the County shouldn’t be spreading divisive politics among County residents. She said the County is cosmopolitan and has benefitted from peaceful coexistence all throughout. She urged residents to turn up and vote in large numbers on October 26th, saying there will be sufficient security during the whole process.
